For reviewers who prefer hard copies, we notify you where and when to send them, along with a standard "tip sheet" that we provide.

• At your option, UP will assist you in preparing your own Web site, where the public can order books directly, for substantially better margins than orders placed through middlemen. UP handles mainstream book industry orders for you, but we strongly recommend accepting orders from the public directly, to improve your earning potential. You are never required to buy or sell books, but our policies are designed to support those who do.

• After publication, UP sends up to 100 press releases (sometimes more) about new books to newspapers, magazines, radio and TV stations, primarily in the author's geographic area. News releases are professionally written, and sent by fax or post... not spam sent by e-mail, which is often deleted unread. All costs for the initial press release are included as part of our standard service for authors and publishers.

• UP's news desk assists in servicing resulting inquiries from members of the working press.

• UP also posts additional announcements about new books to a wide variety of other outlets, including Web sites that focus on related subjects, bookstores and libraries, as appropriate. There is no additional charge for this service.

• UP creates a Web page specifically for each new release, with info about the book and the author, and links for ordering from leading online booksellers. Click HERE for a fictional example. Whether you have your own Web site or not, this allows readers to preview and order your book without searching through thousands of others.

For this reason, you will receive regular notices about marketing and promotion, to help you continue gaining exposure for your book long after completion of the steps above.
