Lucy Goodale Thurston voyaged to the Hawaiian Islands in 1820 intent on bringing the word of God to its inhabitants. During the next fifty years she raised a family, dealt with tragedy, and helped to change the future of Hawaii forever. She died in 1876. This is her story.

This book was originally published under the title Life and Times of Mrs. Lucy G. Thurston, wife of Reverend Asa Thurston, Pioneer Missionary to the Sandwich Islands by S. C. Andrews in 1882, by Advertiser Publishing Company in 1921, & by The Friend and Advertiser Publishing Company in 1934.
