To use the UP system, you will need moderate experience with word processing, the ability to use e-mail (including file attachments), and a current release of the Adobe Acrobat reader.

Our guidelines for submitting previously-published books for re-publication are simple: send in five clean copies.

After the book design is completed, your galley proof will be sent to you in Acrobat (PDF) format. Many computer systems come with the Acrobat reader pre-installed. To find out if you already have Acrobat, simply search your hard disk for a file with the PDF extention (for example: FILENAME.PDF) and click on it. If it opens, you already have Acrobat installed.

If not, we recommend downloading and installing it today. (It's great software, whether you publish with UP or not.) The Acrobat reader is available to download for free from the following Web location:

If you find these requirements challenging, please feel free to obtain help locally, before submitting your manuscript. You are not required to buy additional services from UP in order to meet our submission guidelines. Please feel free to compare prices elsewhere. Many local copy centers and computer related businesses can often provide simple file conversions and similar services at a nominal cost.
