In 1850, the Oatman family was abducted. This is their recounting of the story. Lorenzo Oatman survived the attack on his life and later searched for years to locate his sisters. He was eventually reunited with his only surviving sister with the help of Henry Grinnell. Olive Oatman was rescued from her captors in February 1856, later married John B. Fairchild, and spent the rest of her life in Sherman, Texas where she passed away in 1903.
