about:
o
Any author who has been published previously can attest that books must be promoted in order to be sold, and read. They also know that the author does a great deal of the work, whether a book is published the traditional way, or using new technologies.

UP provides meaningful promotion as part of our standard service. Many of our competitors offer little or no promotion; others charge substantial extra fees for comparable services:

  • Prior to publication, UP works with our authors to identify prospective book reviewers. UP's news desk queries each one individually, offering an advance copy. For those that accept "e-Galleys," UP sends digital copies when the proof is ready. For reviewers who prefer hard copies, we notify you where and when to send them, along with a standard "tip sheet" that we provide.

    UP is proud that many of our books have garnered solid reviews in leading publishing trade journals such as Library Journal and Publishers Weekly, as well as major print and broadcast media nationwide. Please click HERE for examples.

  • At your option, UP will assist you in preparing your own Web site, where the public can order books directly, for substantially better margins than orders placed through middlemen. UP handles mainstream book industry orders for you, but we strongly recommend accepting orders from the public directly, to improve your earning potential. You are never required to buy or sell books, but our policies are designed to support those who do.

  • After publication, UP sends up to 100 press releases (sometimes more) about new books to newspapers, magazines, radio and TV stations, primarily in the author's geographic area. News releases are professionally written, and sent by fax or post... not spam sent by e-mail, which is often deleted unread. All costs for the initial press release are included as part of our standard service for authors and publishers.

  • UP's news desk assists in servicing resulting inquiries from members of the working press.

  • UP also posts additional announcements about new books to a wide variety of other outlets, including Web sites that focus on related subjects, bookstores and libraries, as appropriate. There is no additional charge for this service.

  • UP creates a Web page specifically for each new release, with info about the book and the author, and links for ordering from leading online booksellers. Click HERE for a fictional example. Whether you have your own Web site or not, this allows readers to preview and order your book without searching through thousands of others.

These steps are usually completed within 90 days of release. However, a primary benefit of POD book publishing is that most titles can remain in distribution almost indefinitely.

For this reason, you will receive regular notices about marketing and promotion, to help you continue gaining exposure for your book long after completion of the steps above.

When you publish with UP, you get meaningful assistance in initial promotion, and ongoing support for long-term marketing, at no added cost.

UP offers writers and publishers a comprehensive system to get high quality books into broad circulation, and to gain valuable public exposure after publication.

The UPside:
start-up costs are minimal;
little economic risk is required;
UP provides top quality technical work;
appearance of books is surprisingly attractive;
most titles can be in circulation within months;
broad distribution and initial promotion are included!
